Salary: $67,600.00 annually
JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Head Start, the Director of Education is responsible for the development and supervision of the education content area to meet Head Start’s Program Performance Standards. The Director will identify training needs and approve potential sources for training and curriculum in coordination with the Head Start Director.
Additionally, the Director monitors CLASS, mentor/coaching progress, provides positive outcomes for school readiness and family self-sufficiency. The Director of Education is responsible for the strategic planning for child school readiness for the agency. Additionally, the Director is responsible for interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work, performance evaluations and staff development plans.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related education field with equivalent coursework in Early Childhood Education with early education teaching experience.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in writing, planning and implementing an education program for preschool children, designing and providing staff training.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience of supervisory and program management in a Head Start or Early Learning environment.
Strong analytical skills to quickly assess situations, identify trends, develop solutions, and apply critical assessments to the larger context.
CLASS Certification in Preschool, Toddler and Infant and Director’s Credential are required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires strong communication skills and experience in leading a team. Works closely with Center Directors, ELIS, and other organizational leaders to assess and prioritize the needs of employees to better serve children and families. Maintains professional relationships with the Board of Directors, Policy Council, parents, and agency leaders for the purpose of enhancing professional alliances and promoting the CAPC mission community wide.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires the employee to be in a classroom setting and an office setting. This position will travel to other center locations frequently. The employee must be able to frequently lift 10 lbs. with frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling. Frequent keyboarding, finger dexterity, and computer use. Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Applicants must have a current Florida Driver’s license, reliable transportation, satisfactory criminal records check for abuse and neglect, and state required minimum vehicle insurance and uninsured motorist insurance. Must meet all requirements of the Department of Children and Families.
