Summary:  Reporting to the Center Director or classroom Teacher, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Teacher in the implementation of the daily classroom schedule.  Supervising and guiding children, preparation of supplies, handling issues and planning jointly with the teacher are among the major responsibilities of this position. Additionally, the Assistant Teacher and the Teacher are responsible for the active supervision and safety for all children in their classroom.   In the absence of the Teacher the Assistant Teacher may temporarily assume the duties of the Teacher.  Also, the Assistant Teacher will interact with parents to encourage classroom participation with their child and promote a positive learning experience.

 Education and/or Experience: Must have a high School Diploma or GED.  A National Child Development Associate Certification (CDA) or a Florida Child Care Professional Certification (FCCPC) or are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree or are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire.

Experience / Requirements: Applicants must have a minimum of one-year experience working with preschool children and must meet all Department of Children and Families requirements for employment and successfully complete the forty-hour child care class.
