Grounds Maintenance Technician

Full Time:                                                     40 hours/52 weeks 

Pay rate:                                                       $19.24 per hour 

 Job Summary: Reporting to the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, the Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the eight properties across Escambia County. Mowing, edging, trimming, pressure washing, planting, and leaf removal are among the majority responsibilities of this position.   Additional duties will include assisting with building maintenance duties in the afternoon and during the winter season.   

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED.  Two years grounds maintenance experience using mowers of different sizes and types to include – zero turns, walk behinds, tractors with bush hogs.  Must have a working knowledge of chemical safety.   

 Other QualificationsAbility to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.  Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.  Demonstrated computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation.  Must compete the DCF 45-hour training within 6 months of employment. 

Physical Demands: This position requires the employee to work outdoors. This position will travel to other center locations.  The employee must be able to lift 50 lbs.  Must be able to sit, stand, and bend repeatedly.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions. 

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Applicants must have a current Florida Driver's license, reliable transportation, satisfactory criminal records check for abuse and neglect, and state required minimum vehicle insurance and uninsured motorist insurance.  Must meet all requirements of the Department of Children and Families.
