Weatherization

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible, the total household income may not exceed 150% of the national poverty level. Preference is given to owner-occupied, elderly (60 years plus), physically disabled, families with children under 12.

A household consists of all the persons who occupy a housing unit, whether they are related to each other or not.

WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AND WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM/LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

 

              LOW-INCOME EMERGENCY HOME REPAIR PROGRAM

                                                         MISSION

The mission of both programs are to reduce heating and cooling costs by improving the energy efficiency of the home.

 

                                   TYPES OF ASSISTANCE PROVIDED     

  • Repair or replace inefficient heating and cooling units

  • Address air infiltration-weather stripping, caulking, thresholds, minor wall, ceiling and floor repairs, windows and door replacement.

  • Install attic and floor insulation.

  • Repair or replace water heaters.

  • Install solar screens.

  • Apply solar reflective coating to manufactured homes.

  • Install attic insulation.

                                        WEATHERIZATION FACTS:

Low-income families pay an average of 18 per cent of their annual income for energy, compared with 3.5 per cent for other households.

The average energy expenditure in low-income households is $1,267.00 annually (pre-energy crisis).

It is estimated that weatherization services save the client an average of $358.00 annually.

This program serves Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa County residents.
