Summary: Reporting to the Director of Education through the Education Manager, the Lead Teacher is responsible for planning, and implementing the curriculum for the child development program. Teaching, planning, record keeping, nurturing children, and promoting parent participation are among the major

Lead Teacher II / Lead Teacher III Century Head Start Center

Salary Starting: Lead Teacher II: $14.31 per hour Lead Teacher III: $15.59 per hour

Summary: Reporting to the Director of Education through the Education Manager, the Lead Teacher is
responsible for planning, and implementing the curriculum for the child development program. Teaching,
planning, record keeping, nurturing children, and promoting parent participation are among the major
responsibilities of this position.
Education: Lead Teacher II: Must have an Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a
related field with classes equivalent to a minor in Early Childhood Education.
Lead Teacher III: Must have a Bachelor degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field
with classes equivalent to a minor in Early Childhood Education.
Experience / Credentials: A Director’s Credential is required for this position and at least one-year
experience working with children 3 to 5 years old and supervisory experience are also needed.
Other Qualifications: Applicants must meet all Department of Children and Families requirements for
employment and must be able to successfully complete the forty-hour child care training.
Physical Demands: This position requires the employee to be actively involved with children at all times.
They will be required to stand for long periods of time while working in the classroom and on the
playground. Moderate to vigorous physical activity is required throughout the day. The employee must
be able to stoop, bend, kneel, hop and skip and are expected to sit on the floor with children during circle
time and center time. The employee must be able to lift 40 lbs. This position also requires the employee to
ride a school bus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with a diagnosed
