Permanent Full Time 7 hrs/day 35 hrs/wk 41 wks/yr.
SALARY: $9.68 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS: A High school Diploma or GED, one year experience working in a pre-school classroom, documentation of completed DCF 40 hour Child Care course requirement.

Job Description

SUMMARY: The position of substitute teacher assistant is an “on call” position. A substitute is required when the teacher assistant cannot be in the classroom. A substitute teacher assistant could be asked to sub at any of the 15 Head Start centers.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Experience working with pre-school children. Applicant must meet all Department of Children’s and Families requirements for employment including satisfactory criminal records check and drug screening. Applicant must have successfully completed the DCF forty-hour child care.


POSITION: Lead Teacher II
SALARY: $13.42
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have an Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field with classes equivalent to a minor in Early Childhood Education. MUST HAVE!!! A Director’s Credential is essential for this position. DCF 40 hours and at least one year experience working with children 3 to 5 years old plus supervisory experience is needed.
DUTIES: The Lead Teacher II is responsible for the effective operation of the Head Start Center with a single classroom. Teaching, planning, training, guidance and supervision are among the major responsibilities of this position. The Lead Teacher II also works with and provides assistance to Content Area Specialists on special assignments related to the Head Start Program.

SALARY: $10.19 per hour – on call (not to exceed 40 hrs. week), 41 weeks per year
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a high School Diploma or GED. A CDL license,
Class B or above with airbrake and school bus endorsement. Must provide the Agency
with proof of a clean driving record. This position requires the employee to be in a seated position on a school bus for the majority of the day. The employee will be required to stand for long periods of time while cleaning or working in the classroom. Bending at the waist, stooping, lifting, kneeling, and crouching on the floor are required. The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds.
DUTIES: Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of children to and from school, on field trips, and medical appointments. Transporting children, record keeping, adhering to all traffic regulations, assisting with children, delivering food and supplies are among the major responsibilities of this position. The bus driver is also responsible for the daily cleaning of the centers.

TEACHER II ( Pre-school)
SALARY RANGE: $10.84 - $12.43 per hour / 37.5 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS: Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood education, supervisory experience, DCF 40 Hour Child Care Certificate required, experience working with children 3 to 5 yrs. old.
DUTIES: The Teacher II is responsible for planning, and implementing the curriculum for the child development program. Teaching, planning, record keeping, nurturing children and promoting parent participation are among the major responsibilities of this position.
